The Recovery Room
Heat. Cold. Stillness.
A space set apart. Use the sauna, the cold plunge, or both - at your own pace, on your own terms.
The final threshold.
The Recovery Room sits at the bottom of the building, the innermost room, and everything before it is the approach. You leave your coat, your phone, and the Broadway behind on the way down. The ceiling is low at the door, so you arrive with your head bowed, differently to the way you walked in.
Inside it is charcoal and deep timber, warm light landing low on cream and stone. The sauna glows at one end. The plunge sits apart, dark and still. Between them, room to sit, to rest, to do nothing at all. No mirrors. Nothing to check.
Infrared sauna
A softer, deeper heat.
A gentle infrared heat that works from within, so you can stay in for longer without it ever feeling overwhelming. The glow is warm, not red. Built for the room, with each session capped at five so there is always space between you and the next person.
- Helps ease tight or tired muscles
- Encourages the body to relax and slow down
- A quiet space to sit, breathe, and switch off
Cold plunge
Refreshing. Invigorating. Simple.
Set at nine degrees. Short, sharp, and surprisingly rewarding. The water is filtered and treated continuously, so it stays clean and clear. Often the best part is how you feel afterwards.
- Can support recovery after movement
- Leaves you feeling clearer and more awake
- A short, sharp reset for body and mind
“Heat opens you up. Cold brings you back. The space between the two is where the reset happens.”
— Becky Chalmers, Founder

FAQ
Do I need to book?
Yes. The Recovery Room runs as bookable 45-minute sessions, starting on the hour. Reserve your session in advance.
Is it included in my membership?
Yes on All Access, with no limit. On Mat & Recovery you have up to four recovery visits a month. Not a member? You can drop in.
Can I just do the sauna, or just the plunge?
Either, or both, within your session. It is yours to use however you like.
How hot, and how cold?
The sauna reaches around 60°C, a gentler heat than a traditional sauna, which is why you can stay in longer. The plunge is set at 9°C.
How many people are in there?
We cap each session at five, so it never feels crowded.
What should I wear, and what should I bring?
Swimwear. Towels are provided. A shower before you go in is essential.
What order should I do it in?
Most people warm through in the sauna first, then plunge, and repeat if they like. Rest between.
I've never done cold before. Is that ok?
Yes. Start on the edge, lower in slowly, and stay only as long as you’re comfortable. Even a short plunge does the job.
Is the water clean?
Yes. The plunge is filtered and treated continuously, and tested regularly, so it stays clean and clear.
Can children use it?
No under-18s. 16 to 18 year olds are welcome for private sessions with a parent or guardian.
When is it open?
Session times are on the schedule, where you can also book. Sessions run through the day, morning to evening on weekdays and across the day at weekends.
Safety
Please speak to your doctor before using the sauna or plunge if you are pregnant, have a heart condition, high or low blood pressure, or any other condition affected by heat or cold. Do not use after alcohol. If you are new to cold, ease in gently.
