FAQs
Everything you need to know.
Everything you might want to know before you come in. If your question isn't here, email [email protected] and we'll answer it properly.
Your first visit
I've never done any of this before. Where do I start?
Start with our Intro Offer — two weeks of unlimited classes for £80. Have a look at the schedule and book whatever appeals to you; most of our classes are suitable for all levels, including complete beginners.
When you arrive, just let your teacher know it’s your first time. They’ll talk you through anything you need to know and help you feel comfortable in the class.
Do I need to be fit or flexible to start?
No. You don’t need to be fit, flexible or experienced – that’s what the classes are for. Everything is taught with options, so you can work at your own level from your first session.
Do as little or as much as you need.
What should I wear?
For Reformer and mat classes, wear comfortable clothing you can move freely in. Grip socks are required for Reformer classes for safety and hygiene, and we sell them at reception if you don’t have a pair.
Yoga is practised barefoot.
Swimwear is required for the Recovery Room.
What do I need to bring?
Not much. Mats, blocks, straps and other props are provided for classes at no extra charge.
Bring a water bottle – there’s refill points at the studio.
If you’re using the Recovery Room, remember to bring swimwear.
Shower Towels are also provided at no extra charge.
How long is a class?
Reformer and Mat Pilates sessions are 50 minutes.
Yoga sessions vary depending on the class and run for 60, 75 or 90 minutes.
Recovery Room sessions are booked for 45 minutes. During that time, you can move between the sauna and cold plunge as you wish or simply spend some of the session relaxing in the recovery area.
How early should I arrive?
We recommend arriving 10 minutes before your session, especially if it’s your first visit. This gives you time to check in, get settled and let your teacher know if there’s anything they should be aware of before class.
If you’re a regular, arriving 5 minutes before the start is absolutely fine. Please make sure you’re in the room before the class begins, once the doors are closed, we won’t be able to let you in.
How do I check in?
Say hello to our reception team and they’ll get you checked in and answer any questions you might have.
What if I'm running late?
If you’re running late, give us a call on 020 3544 1425. We understand that life sometimes gets in the way, and if you give us plenty of notice, we’ll always do our best to cancel your place and return the credit to your account.
Can I look around before I book?
Yes. Come in during opening hours and we’ll show you the space. It’s better in person.
Booking, cancelling and the schedule
Do I need to book in advance?
Yes. Classes are kept deliberately small and they do fill, so book ahead rather than turning up.
How do I book?
You can book through the schedule on our website or through your Momence account in the Momence app. All classes and Recovery Room sessions are booked in the same place.
Workshops and special events can be found on our Experiences page.
What if the class I want is full?
You can add yourself to the waitlist. If you opt in to SMS alerts, you’ll be notified as soon as a space becomes available.
Spaces are then first come, first served — so if you get the message, it’s fastest finger first.
How do I cancel or change a booking?
Use the cancel link in your booking confirmation email, or log in to your Momence account. Full detail is on our Cancel a booking page.
What's your cancellation policy?
Please cancel at least six hours before your class. Cancellations inside six hours are charged £5, and no-shows £10 for unlimited options and class cards lose their credit. If something unavoidable happens, call us and we’ll always try to help. More on our Cancel a booking page.
Should I come in if I'm feeling unwell?
Please don’t — rest is part of the practice, and it keeps the studio well for everyone. Cancel as early as you can. If you’ve woken up unwell and it’s inside six hours, call us rather than take the charge. We’d always rather you stayed home.
Can I book for a friend?
Yes. Book under their name so we know who to expect, or buy them a gift — email us and we’ll arrange it.
How far ahead is the schedule published?
Our schedule is live two weeks in advance, giving you plenty of time to book your favourite classes.
When are you open?
Monday–Friday
7:00am–2:00pm
4:30pm–9:30pm
Saturday–Sunday
7:00am–5:00pm
Choosing a class
What does 'all levels' actually mean?
That the class is taught so a first-timer and a regular can both be in the room and both get what they need. Teachers offer options throughout. Nothing is compulsory.
What's the difference between mat pilates and reformer?
Mat Pilates uses your own body weight, working on the mat with small props.
Reformer Pilates uses a sprung bed to add both resistance and support, so it can feel gentler on the joints while still giving your muscles plenty to work with.
Most people find they enjoy a mix of both.
Which yoga class should I pick?
We teach a broad mix of yoga styles, from slow, restorative practices to stronger and more dynamic classes.
You’ll find quieter options including Yin and Restorative Yoga, alongside flowing and more physically demanding practices such as Vinyasa, Warm Flow and 4BEAT.
Our Warm Reset sequence sits somewhere in the middle — a simple Hatha-based flow with no inversions or hand balances, designed to feel grounding, steady and balancing.
We also offer sound-based sessions and regular special events, including our monthly Kirtan.
The idea is that there’s no single way you need to practice here – you can choose what suits your body, energy and mood on the day.
There’s a short guide to each on our yoga page, and every class on the schedule carries a description.
What are your warm classes like?
Warm classes use infrared, which warms the body from the inside rather than heating the air around you a softer heat than a traditional hot studio. 33 degrees. Expect to sweat. Bring a towel and drink more water than usual.
Do you run workshops?
Yes, regularly — usually 90 minutes to two and a half hours, with our own team and guest teachers. Pranayama, yoga nidra, sound, yin, kirtan, handstands, longer 4BEAT practices. They’re listed on Experiences.
Can I try a class before committing to anything?
Yes. Single classes start at £20, or the intro offer gives you two weeks of everything for £80. See the pricing page for the full picture.
The Recovery Room
How do the sauna and plunge work?
Bookable 45-minute sessions, starting on the hour. Use the sauna, the plunge, or both, in whatever order suits you. Sessions are capped at five people.
How hot, and how cold?
The sauna sits at around 60°C — gentler than a traditional sauna, which is why you can stay in longer. The plunge is set at 9°C.
What do I need?
Swimwear. Towels are provided. Please shower before you go in. Phones stay upstairs.
I've never done cold water before.
That’s fine, and it’s most people. Lower in slowly and stay only as long as you’re comfortable. Even a short plunge does the job. There’s more detail, including cleaning, safety and age limits, on the Sauna & Cold Therapy page.
The studio and facilities
Are your changing rooms gender-inclusive?
We have a women’s gender-inclusive changing room and a men’s gender-inclusive changing room downstairs, and a disabled, gender-neutral bathroom upstairs, all clearly signposted. Choose the changing room you most identify with, and ask at reception if you’re unsure. We want everyone to feel safe and welcome in their changing space.
Are there showers?
Yes — three in the women’s changing room and two in the men’s. We offer complimentary Commune premium products, British-made, natural, cruelty-free and vegan-friendly: shampoo, conditioner, hand wash, body wash and lotion. There are hairdryers, straighteners, cotton buds and elastic hair bands.
Do I need a key or a pound coin for the lockers?
No. Our lockers are digital. Choose four digits to lock, and use the same four to unlock. Simple.
Can I leave my things anywhere else?
[Confirm: coat hooks, buggy storage, bike parking.]
What's your phone policy?
Phones stay in the lockers or in the changing rooms. The Recovery Room in particular is a quiet room, and it only works if everyone treats it that way.
Do you sell anything at reception?
[Confirm current retail: e.g. grip socks, water bottles, sauna hats, tea.]
Health, pregnancy and injury
I'm pregnant. Can I still practise?
Yes, with your doctor or midwife’s agreement. Grounded Reformer is designed with expectant mothers in mind, and Baby & Me Reset is a mat class for parents with pre-crawling babies from birth to six months. Always tell your teacher before class. Please don’t use the sauna or the plunge while pregnant without medical advice.
I've got an injury, or something that flares up.
Tell your teacher before class starts, not after. They’ll give you alternatives and keep an eye on you. If you’re recovering from surgery or something significant, speak to your doctor first.
Is there anyone who should not use the sauna or plunge?
The Recovery Room should not be used during pregnancy.
If you have a heart condition, high or low blood pressure, or any other health condition that may be affected by heat or cold, please speak to your doctor before using the sauna or cold plunge.
Please don’t use either the sauna or cold plunge after drinking alcohol. If you’re ever unsure whether they’re suitable for you, check with your doctor first.
Is there a minimum age?
The Recovery Room is over-18s only.
Membership and pricing
Which option is right for me?
If you’ve never been, start with the intro offer. If you’re ready to make it a habit, take a membership. If you want flexibility, single classes and bundles are there. Full detail on the pricing page.
Can I get a refund on a membership, bundle or class?
Class packs and memberships are non-refundable. Our memberships are rolling and can be cancelled at any time, while class packs are valid for three months from the date of purchase.
If something has gone wrong or your circumstances have changed, please email us. We know things happen, and we’ll always do our best to find a fair solution.
Can I pause, or switch between tiers?
Yes to both. Email us or speak to us at the studio and we’ll sort it.
Is there a contract?
No. Memberships are monthly and rolling. Cancel any time.
Can I buy a membership, bundle or class as a gift?
Yes. Gift cards are the easy way, or get in touch and we’ll arrange something specific.
What if the pricing isn't accessible to me right now?
Email us at [email protected] and we’ll share our Community Access Pricing. We’d rather you asked.
Accessibility
Is the studio accessible?
We’re working through accessibility properly rather than making claims we can’t stand behind. If you’d like to know whether the space works for you before you book, email [email protected] and we’ll tell you honestly what’s here and what isn’t. [Replace with a link to the accessibility page once it’s live.]
